Hi, my name is Vanessa! I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Social Work at UMD, and will graduate this summer. I am passionate about working with children, adolescents, and families through trauma-informed and person-centered practices. I believe the symptoms individuals experience reflect their relationships with broader systems, such as community, historical factors, family, and the natural world around them.
Several years of working with individuals with developmental disabilities and individuals experiencing homelessness have strengthened my commitment to compassionate care practices that promote an individual's right to self-autonomy while understanding further systemic influences. I strive to provide culturally responsive, strengths-based care that honors each person's unique experiences and self-determined path toward growth and healing. I look forward to creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel empowered to build on their strengths and achieve their goals.
Outside of the office, you can find me discovering new hobbies, chilling with my cats, or hanging with friends or family. I enjoy all sorts of crafts, rock climbing, hiking, yoga, and coloring.
