Sharlene Santmyer, MSW, LICSW

Sharlene has worked in the mental health field for over 21 years working in a variety of settings including group home settings, in home settings, and community mental health. With a team of other clinicians worked to open up Birch and Pine Counseling to help with access to mental health services. She has worked as an outpatient psychotherapist and a clinical supervisor for mental health practitioners at a community mental health center.

She specializes and enjoys working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness, serious mental illness, adult acute mental illness, children, and geriatric populations. Her therapy framework is centered on Person Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She has had training in cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, trauma therapy, and crisis therapy. She also has received training and is literate in somatic practices.
