With over 21 years of experience in the mental health field, Sharlene Santmyer has dedicated her career to supporting individuals across various settings, including group homes, in-home services, and community mental health. As one of the founding members of Birch and Pine Counseling, she has played a pivotal role in expanding access to mental health services in the community.
Sharlene specializes in working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness, serious mental illness, acute mental illness, as well as children and geriatric populations. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with additional training in cognitive processing therapy, trauma therapy, crisis intervention, and somatic practices.
